The Clowder of Strangers is similar to a matriarchal monarchy, where the Queen has the power to order knights around, and assign students to a knight. However, when a student is ready to become a knight (or a medic), the Queen does not choose their suffix, and the cats instead choose the second part of the name themselves. Cats typically strive to choose heroic, intimidating names, or names that at least reflect their personality.
